From the display effect, the FSTN LCD screen (also called DFSTN) has black characters on a white background, and the VA LCD screen (also called BTN) has white characters on a black background. Let's take a look at the FSTN LCD screen and VA LCD screen from the following 5 aspects. The difference:
1. The size directly affects the cost. Customers generally give the viewable area or size of the LCD screen. Our first choice is definitely the VA LCD screen, because the black and white contrast is stronger and there is only one compensation film, while the DFSTN LCD screen is a double compensation film.
2, the display content, that is, the function display of the product. Customers need to provide pictures or plane effect drawings. According to the display content, choose the suitable driver IC, and combine the structure and cost of the customer's product. Choose one of the two modes of LCD screen.
3. Angle of view, that is, the observation angle of the product (6 points, 12 points, 9 points and 3 points), generally indicated on the drawings provided by the customer, or an observation angle is given according to normal use. The viewing angle of the DFSTN LCD screen is similar to that of the VA LCD screen, and the viewing angle range is above 90 degree .
4. Working voltage: The working voltage of DFSTN LCD screen can be 3.5V, normal 4.5-5V. We generally recommend customers to change the working voltage of VA LCD screen to the direction of 4.5-5V, because low voltage will cause the black and white display effect to be blurred, the contrast is not strong, or the screen will go black. Problems such as ghosting occurred at the moment of booting. The size is relatively small, and the operating voltage can be 3.5V.
5. Drive mode: DFSTN LCD screen can be driven by 8 channels and 16 channels. For example: The laser rangefinder product has a lot of display content, 16-channel drive, and only the LCD screen in DFSTN mode can be selected. The VA LCD screen can only be driven by 4 channels (the main reason is that the current technology of glass manufacturers is limited).
